Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Principal Engineering Technicians in the Design Group perform complex civil engineering technical support activities for engineering projects and programs. The candidate may handle the design of small highways, structures, or signs and signals projects or work on larger design teams for large highways, structures, or signs and signals projects. The candidate may perform preliminary designs, write reports, coordinate work between various Regional groups, check engineering computations, conduct constructability reviews, prepare quantity estimates, develop work zone traffic control plans and perform field investigations.

Responsibilities will include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
