Minimum Qualifications Attorneys handle all phases of litigation, including trials. Superior lawyering skills, including research, writing, legal advocacy and legal analysis, are required. Some in-state travel is required. Two (2) or more years of post-graduate legal experience is required. Prior prosecutorial experience is a plus.

Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.

Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) seeks an attorney capable of handling significant, complex and voluminous litigation in the Sex Offender Management Bureau in Western New York. The Bureau represents the State of New York in state court proceedings related to Mental Hygiene Law Article 10. Cases in the Bureau frequently present questions of the Mental Hygiene Law, criminal law, constitutional law, agency law and statutory interpretation.
