Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list for this title; or have a license and current registration to practice pharmacy in New York State AND be eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law section 52.6.

Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an appropriate eligible list or transfer candidate, a provisional appointment may be made. You must have a license and current registration to practice pharmacy in New York State AND:

Either four years of professional post-licensure experience as a Pharmacist, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a pharmacy related setting;

OR three years of professional post-licensure experience as a Pharmacist, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a pharmacy related setting AND a master’s or higher degree in pharmacy, health administration, health care administration, health services administration, health policy and management, public health, community health, health education, public administration, or business administration in health care.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.

Duties Description As a Pharmacy Supervisor, you are responsible for the supervision, training, and development of facility pharmacists and maintenance of pharmacy services and operations at a state operated pharmacy. You may be responsible for maintaining any or all of the following types of services: quality assurance programs, drug distribution systems, computerized pharmaceutical programs, drug information systems, patient education and counseling, participation in treatment plan reviews, and monitoring drug regimens. Pharmacy Supervisors may also be responsible for procurement, inventory, storage, and dispensing of drugs. Incumbents develop, recommend, and implement pharmacy policies and procedures and ensure compliance with New York State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. You may assist a Pharmacy Manager.

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.

Additional Comments:

Salary range is inclusive of an $11,000 Geographic Pay Differential.

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $3,026.
