Minimum Qualifications Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Public Health Nutritionist 2 (G24); OR New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent- permanent competitive service in the Public Health Nutritionist 1, G-22 title, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with maternal and child health nutrition, and general nutrition
education. Experience with program development and evaluation, contract management, technical assistance, and training. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills, and experience with Microsoft Office programs, and e-mail. Experience with child and adult daycare programs, food production records and menus, and food safety and sanitation.
Duties Description The Public Health Nutritionist 2 (PHN 2) in the MARO Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) will be responsible for regional program development, oversee program reviews, evaluation and outreach and pre-approval activities. This position will also conduct program reviews. You will make decisions regarding the outcome of reviews in the unit, provide specific nutrition expertise as it relates to Children or Adults in determining program direction, policies and implementation of priorities. PHN 2 will function as a planner, evaluator and consultant. In addition, the incumbent will represent the CACFP in region-wide meetings, and will work closely with MARO and Central Office CACFP mangers in program development
You will be working in a team environment. This position supervises 4-5 professional staff and 1 administrative support staff.
Additional Comments Full time, Contingent-permanent appointment. Occasional statewide travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required. Current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) as defined above must be maintained for continued employment as a Public Health Nutritionist.
