Minimum Qualifications You must take and pass a Civil Service examination. You must have four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment; or graduated from a High School Technical Electronics Education Program recognized by the New York State Education Department as meeting the standards for technical education and three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment; or an Associate degree in electronic technology or successful completion of a two year technical professional certification program in the electrics field and two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Examples of electronic equipment, but is not limited to, antenna systems, closed circuit television systems, control, and indicating equipment, data systems, electronic office equipment, fire alarms, intercommunication units, intrusion and surveillance equipment, public address systems, radio equipment, security systems, and radiological monitoring equipotment.
Duties Description You would independently install, test, diagnose, maintain, service, repair, replace, or otherwise work on a variety of electronic systems and equipment. The equipment will include communications devices, computer equipment, security systems, and other control and indicting equipment. Your work tasks may include working with ladders, scaffolding, blueprints, and sing hand, power, and diagnostic tools.
