Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, OR have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description As a part of the Authority’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Team, the incumbent in this position will assist with various tasks regarding the development and maintenance of GIS infrastructure and applications within the Department of Information Technology. The position includes management of existing GIS datasets, acquisition of relevant data from other sources, and development of new GIS data sets and applications. In addition, this role includes providing GIS technical support to end-users, helping other departments to analyze, query, and thematically map numerous enterprise data sets to allow key decisions to be made within the organization. Duties also include assisting with the development, enhancement, testing, and implementation of both desktop and web-based GIS applications through use of existing tools and customized coding. Additional tasks may include items such as researching new GIS software and technologies for consideration of inclusion into the Authority’s application suite.
