Minimum Qualifications "Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Consultant Nurse, G-24 OR current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a qualified title and eligible for transfer to Consultant Nurse HNSA under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law (NYS employee with one year of permanent service at G-22 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualifications listed below).
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: licensed and currently registered as a nurse in New York State; AND four years of public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Two years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator."
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in utilization management and evaluating clinical appropriateness of managed care organization determinations.
Duties Description Insurance Plan Manager for several health plans - main daily plan contact for all issues; investigates complaints for those plans, compiles evidence of Fair Hearing Compliance, Provider Directory and Member Service survey result letters, handles the portion of the 800-900 Hotline calls per month for the assigned plans, assumes the role of team leader on operational surveys for the assigned plans, schedules the surveys with the plans, schedules and conducts pre-survey team meetings, coordinates post-survey activities and report writing, reviewing and evaluating plans of correction until acceptable, provides telephone and hotline coverage as needed and handles any special projects that may arise. Provides field supervision to survey team and administrative supervision to subordinate staff.
Additional Comments Full time, permanent appointment. Occasional statewide travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required. Current and continued registration with the NYS Education Department to practice as a Registered Nurse is required for employment.
