Duties Description The Jones Beach Energy & Nature Center offers exhibits, programming, and educational workshops that explore the complex interplay between humans, energy, and nature. Located on a barrier island shaped by both human and natural forces, the guiding themes of the Center are the Power of Nature and the Nature of Energy: How is energy present in nature, and how do we transform it into power for human use? What, in turn, is the impact of these energy networks on ecological systems?
Environmental educators develop and carry out educational programming for school groups and the public, assist visitors, and help maintain exhibits as well as the building, and site.

Job responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Provide environmental programs for variety of demographics and patron groups
• Develop new educational programming, including content, teaching props, visual guides and crafts to augment learning
• Provide information to visitors
• Develop social media posts and educational videos
• Assist with animal care and pollinator garden maintenance
• Other tasks as necessary

Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications:
• A BA or BS degree in relevant discipline
• Strong interest in energy, including different types of energy, how humans consume energy, and the future of the Grid in NY State
• Strong interest in and commitment to environmental stewardship
• Teaching experience preferred
• Ability to work as a positive team member
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Experience handling animals a plus
• Strong written skills preferred
