Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer: Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 2, G9 OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a G7 and deemed eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 2, G9 under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law. Department Provisional: Current DOH employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive or 55B/55C service in an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding tittle allocated to G5 or higher. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities; knowledge of the Department’s policies and procedures; familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), scheduling meetings; making travel arrangements; and experience working with confidential matters.
Duties Description The Office Assistant 2 (OA 2) will provide operational support to the Provider Approval, Due Process and Monitoring Unit in the Bureau of Early Intervention (BEI), within the Division of Family Health (DFH). Responsibilities include but are not limited to triaging calls, providing technical assistance to EI stakeholders, ensuring that provider approval applications (600 individual and 25 agency applications/year) and reapproval applications (approximately 200 per year) are processed and tracked timely and accurately, and assisting with tracking of due process activities (mediation, impartial hearings, and systems complaints) and supporting tracking of monitoring reports and corrective action plans submitted by early intervention providers.
Additional Comments Contingent-permanent or provisional, full time. If three or fewer New York State Department of Health promotional candidates respond to this notice, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. Employees must have one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in qualifying title Office Assistant 1, G-6. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
