Salary RangeFrom $60069 to $76387 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: six years of experience* in domestic and/or gender-based violence service programs, including work in any human services field and/or governmental field, direct service and/or training and education and/or public policy or public affairs.
*Substitutions: A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a Master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; a PhD may substitute for six years of specialized experience.
Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Director of Law and Public Safety for the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of technical assistance and support of the agency’s law enforcement programming and criminal justice reform policy. Additionally, this position will provide training program support for those stakeholders in the area of law and public safety and any agency programming relative to gender-based violence prevention which specifically includes domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, program, and policy. Travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
• Research and policy creation on alternatives to traditional criminal justice approaches to accountability for survivors and their families using a lens that is intersectional and look to be innovative;
• Training of the law enforcement community on survivor-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma informed services for victims of gender-based violence;
• Direct engagement with culturally specific organizations and other trusted voices, in collaboration with other internal professionals, to ensure appropriate agency programming in the areas of cultural responsiveness and all forms of gender-based violence as they pertain to survivor interactions with the criminal justice system;
• Creation of new and innovative learning experiences for traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in the area of criminal justice services and reform including new curriculum and messaging;
• Representation of the agency on relevant task forces and policy creation work groups;
• Providing technical assistance on the creation of policy and programming for survivor-centered, trauma informed and culturally responsive law enforcement services to victims of gender-based violence;
• Creation of model policies and protocols for law enforcement agencies in consultation with DCJS and other relevant stakeholders;
• Assistance in the development of informational and outreach materials for specific stakeholders and populations;
• Assistance in the coordination of grant applications related Unit programming;
• Preparing written reports as required by the agency and/or funding sources; and,
• Active participation of cross-agency creation of policy and programming in collaboration with all agency staff.
