Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State, board-eligible or board certification in a medical specialty, and one year of experience in a clinical, hospital, or patient care setting.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidate will have eight years of post-licensure experience practicing medicine, at least one of which is in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Demonstrated clinical and/or administrative leadership in health care delivery, including policy making and/or quality assurance/quality improvement experience. A strong understanding of the medical misconduct process as well as excellent communication skills, strong decision-making capability and effective collaboration skills are valued.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will serve as the Executive Secretary to the Board for Professional Medical Conduct. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as a critical liaison between the Board for Professional Medical Conduct, the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, medical professionals, and medical societies; providing leadership for Board Members; issuing Administrative Warnings pursuant to PHL §230; assisting in case resolution where needed; participating in the recruitment and hiring of Medical Coordinators and Medical Experts to enhance the professional medical conduct process; participating in the recruitment of Board members and Board activities; participating in the administration of a coordinated effort to provide consistent training for Board members; participating in speaking engagements on the medical misconduct process; analyzing Board performance and encouraging continuous improvement; serving on the Commissioner’s Grand Rounds Committee; and performing other tasks as requested by the Chair of the Board of the Director of the Office.

Additional Comments This position may include occasional travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.
