Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Educational Testing or Associate in Instructional Services.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Supervisor of Educational Testing position in the Office of State Assessment. This Office is responsible for the development and statewide administration of all State examinations for elementary, intermediate, and high school students. Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide leadership and training to staff in establishing procedures, planning, and carrying out test development and/or administration activities with contractors;
• Coordinate and participate in quality control processes to ensure assessments meet established criteria from sources such as the United States Department of Education, the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, and industry best practices;
• Partner with the BOCES, districts, unions, professional associations, cultural institutions, SUNY, CUNY, and independent institutions of higher education to develop field- and public-facing guidance for state assessments;
• Maintain, through ongoing research and networking, expertise on the trends in state, national, and international standards, curriculum, and assessment development, including emerging technologies and data systems to support instructional practices, and
• Supervise professional and support staff working on the development and/or administration of State examinations, ensuring the timely completion of all assigned work, time sheets, probationary reports and performance evaluations;

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
