Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled trades-person which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
Duties Description CARPENTRY: This position requires journey level experience in all aspects of carpentry; to include but not limited to roofing, building rehabilitation & repair, new construction. Candidate must be able to make material lists, and may be required to lay out and lead projects to completion. Additionally, duties will involve other areas of support and maintenance at facilities as directed; some of which will require DEC chainsaw certification to assist with hazardous tree removal.
ELECTRICAL: This position requires basic knowledge of electrical circuits and candidate must have ability to make minor repairs and modifications to new and existing electrical components within the infrastructure at all DEC facilities operated in the Warrensburg Working Circle.
PLUMBING:This position will require basic knowledge of residential water and sewer systems to rehab and perform repairs within buildings during rehabilitation projects. The systems vary in design, some old/some newly remodeled with many types of materials used for such infrastructure. The candidate may be required to assist with seasonal startup and shutdown/winterization of the facilities in Warrensburg Working Circle.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 70 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 3/31/2022. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
