Minimum Qualifications • Currently serving as a Training Specialist 1 MH and eligible for transfer OR
• Reachable on the Civil Service List for Training Specialist 1 MH OR
• One year in a permanent title eligible for 70.1 transfer per Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver comprehensive training programs to ensure the agency has a well-trained work force.
• Supervise new direct care trainees undergoing orientation and initial traineeship classes.
• Assist in monitoring and follow-up of trainee probationary progress.
• Attend meetings and committees as directed.
• Serve as a training advisor/resource to the DDSOO’s individual housing units and day programs.
• Research and disseminate educational opportunities to enhance employee professional development.
• Schedule training sessions and book available rooms.
• Attain CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification (all necessary levels) and deliver regular classes.
• Attain NYS PROMOTE Instructor Certification (all levels) and deliver regular classes.
• Assist the Training Specialist 2 and Assoc. Director of Training with assigned tasks.
• Oversee accurate maintenance of staff training records in the SLMS.
• Oversee maintenance of physical staff records.
• Travel regionally and statewide to attend and deliver training when required.
