Salary RangeFrom $37507 to $46103 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Two years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site or recreational facility; OR two years' experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades school course.
Duties Description Under supervision, the Park Worker 3 performs semiskilled maintenance and repair work in one or a combination of trade areas. Incumbents, in learning and perfecting their skills, may perform journey-level activities under supervision or after receiving detailed instructions. Typical assignments would include but not be limited to:
• Supervising lower-level employees engaged in maintenance activities including mowing, refuse removal, cleaning structures, painting, maintenance of equipment, snow and ice removal, operation of trucks, tractors, Bobcats, snowplows, power saws and other self propelled equipment, minor carpentry, masonry, plumbing or electrical repairs and other duties as assigned.
• Perform grounds landscaping on natural and artificial turf and building maintenance, including restroom cleaning, using green practices and a variety of tools.
• Utilize motor driven equipment and hand tools in the performance of assigned tasks.
• May prepare written reports in response to specific assignments, and to supervise lower level permanent and seasonal staff.
• Candidate may be required to, in addition to maintenance tasks, supervise custodial and ground maintenance staff.
• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices by directing staff and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
• Work closely with volunteers, the community and other facilities and vendors to assure NYS Parks’ mission is always met.
• Perform a variety of administrative duties by assisting with inventories and collection of data for work orders and other assignments as needed.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Candidates must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition
of employment.
• Demonstrable knowledge in use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook for e-mail is preferred
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Daytime, weekend, holiday and evening work is required.
• The selected candidate will be expected to and may occasionally support work assignments in other State Parks throughout the New York City Region
