Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as an Office Assistant 1, G6, OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title at or above a G4 and eligible to transfer to Office Assistant 1, G6, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the use of custom software programs. Strong communication, coordination, organization skills and the ability to work independently. Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain efficient office work flow. Ideally this individual would have some knowledge of medical terminology.

Duties Description This position will be an integral part of the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) team and will need to be able to work within a team environment, but also need to be able to work independently. They would not only assist with clerical functions, but also perform tasks to assist the investigative staff. Duties will include serving as the primary contact for handling Unit phone and triaging phone calls; using databases unique to the HCBS Unit; assisting staff with database issues; searching multiple databases to obtain necessary information; processing incoming and outgoing communications; completing correspondence; maintaining computer and paper files and correspondence; arranging and coordinating meetings and conference calls; scanning large amounts of information; shredding; preparing and forwarding records; and reviewing reports to assure they are without any typographical errors.

Additional Comments *Transfer candidates serving in certain designated titles will be required to take and pass a keyboarding examination to qualify for appointment.
