Duties Description As a Human Resource Specialist Trainee 1 you may be responsible for the performance of various personnel activities such as position classification, recruitment, placement, and employee services for the purpose of staffing, developing, and maintaining an adequate and competent work force. You may assist in specific program areas such as the reasonable accommodation request process. You may also assist in special assignments including assisting in the management of the seasonal Park Ranger program. Typically, incumbents are generally responsible for several park regions and, under policy direction and guidelines, facilitate in the planning, organizing, conducting, and coordinating of personnel activities to attain specific objectives. The incumbent will report to the Human Resources Specialist 2 and Associate Director of Human Resources 1.

As a Human Resources Specialist Trainee, you would participate in a 2-year traineeship. At the successful conclusion of your traineeship, you would advance without further examination to Human Resources Specialist 1, Grade 18.

Additional Comments The preferred qualifications for this position are: strong organizational, writing and analytical skills and strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel.
