Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be current state employees and have a reachable score on the Office Assistant 2 list or
Have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Office Assistant 2 or to a title eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 2 or
Appointment as a Office Assistant 2 here at UAlbany, less than 1 year of service, (remainder of probationary period to be completed in new assignment) or
Be a former state employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Office Assistant 2. May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at time of appointment.


Duties Description
1) Retrieve Loan Verification Certificates (LVC) that are received at the SLSC by electronic file from the four Department of Education (DOE) consolidation providers. Review and complete the LVC’s adhering to DOE procedures and timeframe. If LVC is for a collection agency account a notification is to be sent to the appropriate collection agency and A CO1 letter to the borrower.
2) Review LVC Review file in the SLSC OnBase system and process the LVC as completed which will send the notification to the collection agency electronically.
3) Answer incoming borrower phone calls (voice mails) and update borrower’s SAL account with a memo. Verify all demographic information and update SAL with changes as necessary.
4) If borrower requests form refer borrower to SLSC website to retrieve forms. If borrower cannot access SLSC website, then mail forms requested to borrower. Send borrower any forms requested and note borrower’s account in SAL. Provide balance and payoff information on certain accounts as indicated by collector code. Refer calls from delinquent borrowers to the loan representative queue.
5) Maintain the Skip Tracing queue within the SLSC OnBase system. Review all mail returned to determine why returned and update loan account accordingly.
a. Skip trace borrower loan account by utilizing web search engines to locate a new address for borrower.
b. If unable to locate an updated address, contact borrower via telephone and/or email to request updated demographics and discuss account information.
6) If unable to locate borrower utilizing the web, then complete CBC searches as needed to locate updated mailing address and telephone numbers.
7) Review DMV records for updated address for NYS residents. Maintain a database for ALL DMV searches completed for DMV audit.
8) Review loan for tax offsets and if a tax offset was recently processed send name and SSN to NYS Tax by secure email to request address.
9) If a death notification does not contain a death certificate determine where borrower died and request death certificate from that state. If we cannot obtain a death certificate, try to get three death information from three separate entities. Forward death information to Associate Director for cancellation approval from Chief Financial Officer.
10) Assist with special projects as needed.
