Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager and the Maintenance Supervisor, the Park and Rec Aide 6 (PRA6) performs routine and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work in one or a combination of trade areas. Typical assignments include mowing, garbage removal, cleaning buildings, painting, equipment maintenance, operation of trucks, tractors and power equipment. Semi-skilled trades include carpentry, masonry, plumbing and other duties as assigned. The incumbent will perform grounds landscaping and maintenance on natural fields and carriage roads. A PRA6 is expected to use motor driven equipment and hand tools in performance of assigned tasks. A PRA6 will assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices and working with guests to minimize potential problems. The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative duties by assisting with inventory controls, collecting data for projects and work orders and other assignments as needed. The incumbent will work closely with volunteers, the community and vendors to assure NYS Parks mission is always met.
Additional Comments Operational Needs:
-One year experience in the landscape and maintenance functions at a park or recreation facility or one year experience as a trade's assistant under the supervision of a semi-skilled trades person, or completion of an appropriate two year technical/trades school course.
-Must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license as a term and conditional of employment
