Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medical Assistance Specialist 2; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to a Medical Assistance Specialist 2. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Medicaid provider enrollment; experience with eMedNY; experience interpreting regulations; strong written and verbal communication skills; experience supervising professional staff.

Duties Description The Medical Assistance Specialist 2, G23, will be assigned to the Bureau of Provider Enrollment to perform duties and responsibilities of a team lead overseeing a unit of professional staff responsible for the enrollment of providers into the NYS Medicaid Program.

The incumbent will be responsible for:
• developing new, and updating existing enrollment policies and procedures,
• representing the NYS and BPE as a subject matter expert on all matters relating to the practitioner provider enrollment including communication with provider community,
• working with systems staff and counterparts from other agencies and bureaus to determine best way of enrolling new categories of providers,
• supervising a number of professional state and contract staff ensuring they are meeting all necessary criteria and follow proper policies and procedures for enrollment in NYS Medicaid program,
• managing and assigning work to subordinate staff and assuring applications are handled in timely and efficient manner.
