Salary RangeFrom $49202 to $62806 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Reachable for appointment from the Investigator 1 Civil Service eligible list OR one year of permanent competitive service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description Investigates complaints regarding Code Enforcement Officials, including the review of possible evidence relating to the complaint filed; Plans the scope and method of an investigation based on office policy, based upon guidance received by Supervisory Investigators and/or Code Compliance Specialists, the accessibility of information, and the importance of the case; Meets and interviews witnesses, complainants, proprietors, certified individuals and others to obtain information relating to the investigation or to determine eligibility or compliance; As assigned, goes out on field assignments to review and inspect records and other associated documentation, as well as gather video and/or photographic evidence as needed, regarding complaints received by the Division of Building Standards and Codes; Briefs higher-level investigators, Code Compliance Specialists, and/or Division Management of investigative findings and recommendations; Prepares factual written reports of information gathered during an investigation for review by higher level investigators, Code Compliance Specialists, and/or Division Management and may recommend appropriate courses of action consistent with findings and agency policy and practices; May assist with witness preparation in anticipation of an Administrative Hearing and may testify at Administrative Hearings regarding the details of investigations and related conclusions.
