Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree and one year of professional research experience in an appropriate field. Substitution: 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications-
Two years of experience performing inorganic laboratory analyses in a regulatory environment, and experience with instrumental analysis techniques for environmental samples. Knowledge of environmental laboratory standards, quality assurance, audits, and applicable regulations. Ability to work independently as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Duties Description The incumbent in this position is responsible for support activities within the Laboratory of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry. Specific duties include performing analyses for inorganic contaminants using EPA and NYS approved methods, employing technologies such as ion chromatography or ICP-OES; ensuring data are reported in a timely manner; preparing documentation; optimizing methods; revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary; performing routine laboratory procedures such as maintaining instruments and laboratory readiness; and may participate in research projects appropriate for Wadsworth’s public health priorities as assigned by the supervisor.
