Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Level 1 - SG/12 - $43,970 - Four years of appropriate paid trades experience or an Associate's degree appropriate to the teaching field and two years of such experience or a Bachelor's degree appropriate to the teaching field and one year of such experience.

Level 2 - SG/13 - $46,529 - In addition to meeting the Level 1 qualifications, candidates must have completed six hours towards obtaining a New York State Certificate for teaching the appropriate trade specialty.

Level 3 - SG/15 - $51,986 - Possession of a valid provisional New York State Certificate for teaching the appropriate trade specialty.

Level 4 - SG/17 - $57,984 - Possession of a valid permanent New York State Certificate for teaching the appropriate trade specialty and two years of professional teaching experience.

Duties Description Creating an environment that is conducive to learning and mimics the real workplace challenges. The instructor is responsible for ensuring that the students adhere to appropriate safety rules and at all times wear the provided safety equipment. Instruction will be given in all the areas of the automotive technology curriculum and the students are given sufficient hands-on practice in the skill areas. The instructor should be cognizant of any special needs of the students and provide reasonable accommodations that do not compromise the integrity of the program. Each student's progress is recorded in a timely manner and achievment's noted. Arrangements will be made at regular intervals to administer the certification exams for students who have completed the required benchmarks. Both the classroom and shop areas will give students the opportunity to achieve the soft skills that are needed for success in the workplace.
