Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Archives and Records Management Specialist 2.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. 55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for an Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 position in the New York State Archives. This position will be assigned to the Digital Strategies Unit. This unit is responsible for the development, integration, and support of automated tools and systems to support access to records in the State Archives and management and preservation of digital content including born-digital archival records. Under the direction of an Archives and Records Management Specialist 3 duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Participate in the evaluation, implementation and integration of standards-based public access tools for archival records, including an encoded archival description-based finding aids system, a Dublin-core based public digital repository for delivery of records in digital format, and a searchable name index;
• Develop web content and features to support access to the collections, programs and services of the State Archives;
• Support the development of the State Archives program for management and preservation of records in electronic form;
• Advise on the implementation of archival standards within the State Archives information environment; and
• Support other archival functions including reference, appraisal, and accessioning.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.
* Leads to a maximum salary of $77,912 based on annual performance advances.
