Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance work or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesman or completion of an appropriate two year technical school course required.

Duties Description The Maintenance Assistant assists skilled and semi-skilled trade positions and will perform semi-skilled tasks, maintenance and repairs as needed. Must demonstrate the ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, follow written and verbal instructions; possess working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trades to which assigned; ability to climb ladders and work at heights on scaffolds and platforms; understand written and verbal instructions, operate a motor vehicle, and demonstrate the ability to adhere to safety standards. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Shall demonstrate the ability to interact with customers and meet their Maintenance expectations; Ability to inspect and repair ceilings, walls, floors, doors, electrical items, medical gas alarm stations, plumbing, grounds work and miscellaneous items. The Maintenance Assistant position can be used between departments as needed. Person must be free from beard and facial hair that may interfere with the fit or seal of a mask respirator at the time of fit testing. Such a mask must be worn in order to comply with State and Federal Safety Health Codes. Able to do moderately heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds).

Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License.

Additional Comments Contingent Permanent. Schedule based on a 40-hour work week. Position is located at the Community Campus.

Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver's License.
