Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Transfer Eligibility Requirement: You must have a current permanent appointment with a minimum of 1 year of service in a position of the same title or transferable title.

Reassignment Requirement: You must hold the same title at the University at Buffalo.

Reinstatement Requirement: You must be a former state employee to request reinstatement to the title that was held (or transferable title).

Duties Description Position Summary:
The Laboratory Animal Facility at UB is seeking an Senior Animal Caretaker who will be responsible for daily care of various laboratory species. The person will perform basic husbandry duties for animals housed in different health and safety levels: Clean animal rooms and caging, water and feed animals, dispose of wastes appropriately, follow safety protocols when using hazardous agents.

Additional duties are as follows:
• Responsible for daily care of various laboratory species. Perform basic husbandry duties for animals housed in different health and safety levels: clean animal rooms and caging, water and feed animals, dispose of wastes appropriately, follow safety protocols when using hazardous agents.
• Monitor health of animals and room environments and report abnormal conditions Assist in veterinary care, administer treatments and perform other technical procedures. Humanely handle, restrain and transport animals.
• Assist principal investigators, students and technicians.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in cage preparation and room sanitation. Receive, house, remove and record arrival and departure of animals, maintain animal inventories. Perform tasks such as: maintenance of; supply inventories, breeding records, activity logs, sanitation records, etc.
