Minimum Qualifications Reassignment & Transfer Opportunities: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Professional Engineer 1 (Environmental), Grade 24, or current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service as a Professional Engineer 1, Grade 24.

Duties Description This position will provide professional engineering support to the Center for Environmental Health’s Oneonta District Office. The office administers environmental health programs that affect residents and visitors to the Otsego, Delaware, and Green County areas, as well as activities related to the Catskill Park and New York City watershed region.
The position will perform engineering duties in the office’s water supply program, including plan reviews, water supply inspections, cooling tower compliance, and emergency response activities. The office currently oversees 2,100 operations, including over 600 public water supplies. The position will ensure that water supply inspections are conducted as required, that water sample test results are reviewed and triaged in a timely manner, and that engineering plans are reviewed quickly and efficiently.
Additional Comments Permanent competitive, full-time appointment. This position involves travel which includes locations not served by public transportation (30%).
