Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service as a Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, G22, or Community Nuring Services Consultant Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualifications listed below.

Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in NYS; AND a minimum of five years of post-licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Three years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care in a licensed health care facility, and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator. Duties Description Under general supervision, this position is responsible for conducting investigations of licensed professionals under the jurisdiction of the Office of Professional Medical Conduct utilizing their medical training and expertise to advance the process appropriately. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Investigate complaints and develop an investigative plan for cases involving violations of Public Health Law Section 230.
2. Complete medical record reviews and provide analysis of potential deviations from standard of care.
3. Comply with the standards outlined in the investigative operations manual.
4. Conduct in-person and telephone interviews of complainants, licensees and fact witnesses
5. Obtain and review confidential data which may be necessary to locate subjects of investigation.
6. Document all investigative actions using the established OPMC protocol and
maintain the OPMC database for case management.
7. Prepare investigative summary of all actions including recommendation for disposition of cases.
8. Prepare correspondence to complainant and physician advising of disposition of case, as appropriate.
9. Prepare and present cases before Investigation Committee of the Board for Professional Medical Conduct when evidence of misconduct is identified.
10. Obtain and evaluate documentary evidence and medical/QA records as appropriate.

Additional Comments *Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($85,272 - $95,392) and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $35,000 and a Downstate Adjustment of $3,026

** Step 4 hiring rate is pending additional approvals which may result in retroactive pay
