Minimum Qualifications Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18, OR a New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title eligible for transfer, via 52.6 or 70.1, to a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18.
Public Candidates: Active list candidates on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-570 with a reachable score, OR qualified 55-b/c candidate in possession of a bachelor's or higher degree.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will work effectively in a fast-paced environment both independently as well as part of a team. They will have excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills and be able to prioritize multiple assignments. They will have experience with data systems and proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Sharepoint).
Duties Description The Bureau of Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) is a federally funded statewide public health nutrition program that provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs, and adults in other programs. The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will be responsible for performing professional administrative office support and fiscal management activities for CACFP.
The HPA will work in a team-based environment to manage office support activities; supervise professional and support staff; and oversee the Request for Quote process for obtaining temporary personnel. The HPA will also track bureau purchasing and oversee inventory; coordinate the purchase and installation of equipment and equipment maintenance contracts; arrange for vendor repairs and replacements; plan for and purchase technology resources for Bureau staff working in the Central and regional offices including computer hardware and software; assist with development, issuance, award and implementation of Requests for Proposals and Requests for Applications for the Bureau; and oversee the bureau’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests.
Additional Comments "Full-time, permanent appointment. Transfer candidates, you may be asked for a Social Security Number to verify your transfer eligibility. Occasional travel throughout New York State to areas not served by public transportation may be required (20%). Depending on candidate qualifications, the position may be filled at the Health Program Administrator Trainee 1 or 2 levels. Traineeships are non-statutory, resulting in Salary Grade 18 upon completion.
