Duties Description At the University Eye Center (UEC) of the State University of New York College of Optometry, we are inspired to make a difference, and are committed to integrity and excellence. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic New York State-licensed optician with excellent people and technical skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced eyewear center. As a team staff optician, the successful candidate will interact with faculty, staff, optometric students and patients on a daily basis. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide an excellent patient experience are required. Applicants must be knowledgeable of and be able to explain to patients proper frame selection, lens materials, and lens designs; possess exemplary fitting and adjusting skills; and have experience working with vision insurance plans. Individual must be sales savvy and aware of current trends and developments in lenses and eyewear. Must be flexible with scheduling needs of department.

Requirements:
• Current New York State Opticians’ License
• Ability to commit to a schedule including some evenings and Saturdays
• Electronic medical records experience and knowledge of vision care plans

This is a New York State Civil Service position with a starting annual salary of $46,933 (including location pay) and a generous benefits package. Benefits include:
