Minimum Qualifications • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligible List: Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.
OR
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent service in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 52.6, or 70.4 of Civil Service Law.
OR
Provisional: In the event there is not a valid eligible list for this title in this location, candidates who meet the following qualifications may be qualified for provisional appointment. To qualify, candidates must have four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment OR have graduated from a high school technical electronics education program recognized by the New York State Education Department as meeting the standards for technical education AND have three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment OR have an associate's degree in electronic technology or successful completion of a two-year technical professional certification program in the electronics field AND two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
Examples of electronic equipment includes, but is not limited to, antenna systems, closed circuit television systems, control and indicating equipment, data systems, electronic office equipment, fire alarms, intercommunication units, intrusion and surveillance equipment, public address systems, radio equipment, security systems, and radiological monitoring equipment.

Provisional candidates must take the examination for Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics) when it is offered next and must be reachable on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment.

Duties Description • Works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor 1.
• Performs testing, installations and repairs of various type of electronic equipment at a secure facility.
• Performs maintenance on security systems including motion sensor systems. Performs general maintenance on, and oversees contractors assigned to required testing of life safety and security systems.
• Troubleshoots fire alarm systems and performs testing as directed and oversees contractors providing required testing and repairs.
• Performs routine maintenance and testing on emergency duress systems.
• Reviews maintenance requests assigned and evaluate work requested and requests needed supplies to perform job.
• Troubleshoots, adjusts, and repair HVAC electronic control systems and low voltage controls on standby generator systems, systems.
• Performs troubleshooting on automated lighting systems.
• Assists with review of scope of work to be performed by others within this specialize field.
• Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop maintenance contracts on electronic equipment.
• May supervise other maintenance staff in order to achieve effective coordination/scheduling of work performed.
• Performs repairs of electronic equipment at the Broome Campus setting and other locations within the District as assigned.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs and other related computer programs.
• Position may require travel within the state to assist other districts with special projects.
• Candidates will be trained in the operation and maintenance procedures as related to Asbestos Containing Materials.
• Working knowledge of applicable agency standards and of appropriate building and construction code regulations.

• Working knowledge of safety policies as they relate to the agency.
• Ability to train and supervise others.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints and specifications.
• Assists other trades and perform minor electrical work.
