Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or higher and eligible for transfer under Sections 70.1 or 70.4* of the Civil Service Law.
*70.4 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service at the SG-11 or above AND possession of a bachelor’s degree; AND standing on the Professional Careers Opportunities (PCO) or Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) eligible lists.
PCO Appointment: Individuals with a score of 100 or above on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list are encouraged to apply.
*Successful completion of a two-year traineeship leads to an appointment as a Public Safety Grants Representative, SG-18.
GENERAL PUBLIC CANDIDATES:

Successful completion of two-year traineeship leads to appointment as a Public Safety Grants Representative, SG-18.
Duties Description Job duties include but are not limited to:
• Develop and coordinate various federal applications for funding through the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/FEMA and the US Department of Transportation and conduct reviews of local applications.
• Assist with the federal reporting requirements process.
• Assist with the coordination of the Grants annual Regional Workshops and various stakeholder events.
• Review and assess grant applications and make funding recommendations on the applications.
• Conduct research and analysis on a variety of topics, programs, and/or trends in homeland security funding.
• Develop written products to assist in the subrecipient application process, conduct various informational sessions and trainings throughout the process.
• Assist in completing data requests by Executive Staff, Executive Chamber, or to satisfy FOIL submissions.
• Serve as program lead on various working groups and grant programs.
• Assist grantees in administering their grant funded programs.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
