Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Either:
1. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in computer science, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems. OR
2. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science with at least 9 credit hours in programming languages. OR
3. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and at least one year of the experience in the following computer related areas: computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing. OR
4. a minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science courses and one year of the experience the following computer related areas: computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing. OR
5. a total of two years of experience as the following computer related areas: computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing.
Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3 within the Chief Technology Office, Business Application Services, Revenue, Finance, and Public Integrity Portfolio, supporting the DTF Modernization effort, the Project Assistant will be responsible for all phases of the System Development Life Cycle.
The responsibilities will include both new development as well as maintenance tasks.
The Project Assistant will be responsible for analysis, program development and testing of agency application systems. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Code, test and maintain Java/J2EE applications that are in compliance with program specifications and coding standards
- Create detailed program design specifications for system implementations, Integrations, and enhancements.
- Utilize relevant programming languages, queries, utilities, maintenance tools, and relational databases (e.g. AIX DB2) to troubleshoot, update, and modify the various components.
- Interact with COBOL programs and programmers for integration between front and back end systems
- Identify issues for which a technical solution is required and assisting in continued improvement.
- Communicate technical issues and information effectively, both verbally and in writing, with functional and technical staff to gather technical requirements.
- Identify business requirements to develop automated applications which meet business priorities.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment, as well as members of other teams as necessary.
- Provide support for end-users and troubleshooting defects and issues.
- Utilize the following technologies in order to perform assigned duties: Java, XML, DB2
- Facilitate and participate in meetings with ITS and DTF customers.
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with DTF management and users, ITS management, and team members.
Additional Comments Salary: To be determined, commensurate with experience.
