Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited school and at least two years of experience in government/legislative affairs, policy and/or lobbying or communications. State-level experience strongly preferred.
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
• Complete projects and assignments assigned by the Sr. Director of Intergovernmental Relations.
• Build and maintain relationships with city, state, and federal legislators, policymakers, and stakeholders and community partners with diverse perspectives.
• Assist with the development and implementation of special projects, processes, outreach efforts, and event planning to raise policymakers and appointed officials’ awareness on issues relating to NYSDOL focal areas.
• Develop and implement strategies and policies affecting the Intergovernmental Affairs.
• Draft and review briefings, memos, and fact sheets on key policy issues.
• Manage system for tracking incoming correspondence from elected officials, responding as appropriate.
• Implement pro-active communication strategies on labor matters using data from various sources for legislative members.
• Create documents, spreadsheets and presentations for various projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
• Excellent political skills and judgment. Demonstrated leadership, strong diplomatic, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately identify, analyze, and communicate legislative, regulatory and policy issues.
• Oral and written communication mastery a must
Additional Comments Funding approval. Travel percentage will be 25% - 50%.
