Minimum Qualifications Permanent transfer candidates: Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator (G18); OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6, Section 70.1, or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Health Program Administrator (G18), HealthProgram Administrator Trainee 1 (NS), or Health Program Administrator Trainee 2 (NS). Public candidates: Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service’s Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-570 with a score of 100 or higher OR qualified 55B/C candidate in possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience amending or correcting vital events certificates; excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational stills; ability to function independently and deal with multiple tasks and priorities; familiarity working within systems.

Duties Description Working within the Office of Public Health, Bureau of Vital Records, the incumbent for this position will perform key administrative tasks for the Bureau. The incumbent will: coordinate, maintain and perform all tasks related to amendment types, for example, but not limited to, legal name, gender, wedding filiation, etc.; create efficiencies in processing of amendments to streamline amendments, provide quality control and foster a collaborative, team-based approach; manage and track weekly data metrics for requested and fulfilled amendments; provide guidance and technical assistance to staff; manage and respond to inquiries from the public. The incumbent of this position will also supervise staff that manage the amendment records process providing leadership and oversite t to help streamline processes.

Additional Comments Permanent, competitive, full-time. Two year traineeship leading to a G18. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility.
