Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Required experience & education:
A Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in government operations, with a focus on executive support, communications, or a related field. The ideal candidate will also have experience in managing complex information and briefing processes, with strong organizational and leadership skills.
Duties Description The Director of Briefing Operations is a pivotal role within the Executive Operations team, providing leadership and strategic oversight for the Governor's briefing process. This position is responsible for managing the creation, solicitation, and delivery of all briefing materials to ensure the Governor is fully prepared for all engagements, meetings, and events. The Director of Briefing Operations will coordinate closely with internal teams, including advance, scheduling, and long-term planning, to maintain a high standard of excellence in briefing execution.
Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
? Oversee Briefing Process: Manage and supervise the development and quality control of the Governor’s briefing materials, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
? Strategic Coordination: Work collaboratively with the advance, scheduling, and policy teams to align briefing materials with the Governor’s priorities and policy objectives.
? Leadership and Supervision: Lead a team of briefers across New York State, delegating assignments, setting deadlines, enforcing standards, and providing guidance on content and style.
? Feedback Integration: Facilitate the incorporation of the Governor’s feedback into
briefing materials, ensuring updates are reflected in real-time and communicated across relevant teams.
? Training and Development: Coordinate training and professional development
opportunities for briefing team members to maintain a high level of competency and
readiness.
? Goal Setting and Reporting: Establish departmental goals, direct long-term projects, and prepare regular reports on briefing activities and outcomes for senior leadership.
Additional Comments Evening and weekend work will be required on a regular basis. In addition to potential travel around New York State, candidates will need to have access to regular, reliable transportation options in the course of performing their duties.
