Job Specifics
Duties Description This position will train and supervise maintenance staff. Will be tasked with complete management and inspection of projects done by Department staff or contractors. Must be able to plan construction projects including supply lists, obtaining quotes, and ordering of materials. Will be able to complete projects from design stage to completion while adhering to building code and ADA regulations. Must have ability to interpret plans, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications. This position will require the performance of journey level work in all aspects of carpentry. This will include but not limited to roofing, building rehabilitation and repair, new construction, framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, siding install and repair, furniture repair, window and door installs, and drop ceiling installs. Proficient skills in drywall installation, finishing, and painting will be required. This position requires a working knowledge of electrical planning, installation, code interpretation/implementation, and troubleshooting. Electrical work will include but not limited to installing lighting, switches, outlets, pumps, and motors. Will be required to lay out electrical circuits while adhering to code. Position will require plumbing skills including but not limited to new installs, diagnosis, and repairs. Must be able to install and quickly diagnosis issues in all types of plumbing fixtures. Will have the ability to diagnose, repair and install all manners of HVAC systems including work with propane and natural gas supply lines. Knowledge of appliance repair will be necessary. Must perform all types of concrete work including but not limited to flat work, forming, poured walls, block and brick work, and tile installation. This position will also be responsible for site work including but not limited to tree felling and chipper use, operating all types of heavy equipment, use of a transit, grading, installation of drainage systems, and asphalt repairs. Position requires use of plow truck, loader, and salter for snow and ice removal. Required to perform work from heights by ladder, scaffold, or man lift. Required to perform work over open water by boat or floating dock. Must have knowledge of and follow proper lockout/tagout procedures for all construction trades and heavy equipment repairs.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
