Job Specifics
Duties Description Elmira Psychiatric Center - Wellsville Clinic is recruiting for Social Work Assistant 1 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Social Work Assistant 1 at Elmira Psychiatric Center, you will work with an interdisciplinary team and duties will include:
• Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information
• Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services
• Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and 1 year of social work experience.
o Substitution: Master’s degree in social work can substitute for 1 year of specialized experience.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
