Job Specifics

Duties Description A Security Hospital Treatment Assistant will perform a variety of tasks related to care, engagement, treatment, education, recovery, safety, and security of individuals with mental illness in forensic hospitals and units operated my OMH, including:

• Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans
• Interact with patients and observe and progress and responses to treatment
• Assist and instruct patients in attending to person care tasks
• Escort patients to activities and appointments on and facility grounds
• Complete necessary documentation and maintain patient records

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program.

Candidates must possess a High School or High School Equivalency Diploma and two years of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections, or juvenile justice setting/program.

OR

An associate’s degree and one year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections or juvenile justice setting or a bachelor's degree.

The selected candidate will be tested for proficiency in Spanish and must receive a passing score to be considered for appointment. Proficiency must be at a level that will assure your ability to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.

3. License Requirement: Depending on assignment, you may be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
