Job Specifics
Duties Description The Constituent Liaison is responsible for serving as a constituent liaison in our office and the
primary point of contact for NYCHA residents and constituents with housing concerns. The role will
require careful attention to detail, strong communication and computer skills, and the ability to
juggle multiple competing priorities and timelines and problem-solve. Daily work and
responsibilities will vary, but the primary responsibilities include:
? Managing constituent inquiries and casework related to NYCHA, including repairs, maintenance,
tenant rights, and housing transfers
? Participating in and staffing the Assemblymember at in-person and virtual community
meetings and events that sometimes takes place during evenings and weekends
? Developing strong relationships with government agencies, organizations, members of the
community, and other elected officials to expedite potential solutions to issues affecting NYCHA
residents
? Entering constituent cases into a database
? Maintaining up-to-date files on issues
? Assisting with office and community events
? Supervising interns
Additional duties and responsibilities will be based on the individual's strengths and interests. This
position reports to the Chief of Staff.
Minimum Qualifications Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess the following education, experience, language abilities, and
competencies:
? Bachelor’s degree preferred, or Associate’s degree with comparable job experience
? Prior experience working with NYCHA and a passion for affordable housing issues are
required. This includes a strong familiarity with housing policies and tenants rights in New
York State
? Personal ties to NYCHA (as a resident or through family) are strongly preferred and
specifically ties to AD 65 is a plus
? Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage tasks on simultaneous projects,
prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent attention to details
? Excellent computer skills
Excellent written and public speaking abilities
? Previous experience working or interning in an elected official’s office or working in public
service, e.g., case management, community organizing, electoral campaign, or nonprofit
work experience, is a plus
? Flexibility about work hours, available to work evenings and weekends on occasion
? Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
? Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to speak before large groups
? Spanish fluency is strongly preferred
Additional Comments Benefits:
? Compensation is commensurate with experience; $45,000 - $50,000 per year.
