Duties Description The University Life Office of SUNY System Administration seeks a detail-oriented Student Assembly (SA) Advisor/ Manager to serve as a vital administrative and strategic liaison between student leaders and SUNY Leadership. This position is instrumental in ensuring that the Student Assembly functions effectively and adheres to SUNY policies and Student Assembly bylaws, and fosters student leadership development. Under the Director of Student Development and the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Life, Opportunity Programs and Student Advocate, the Student Assembly Advisor/ Manager they will play a key role in supporting operations, executing elections, processing stipends, managing documents and coordination the Student Assembly events and Conferences. The role involves close collaboration with SUNY Board of Trustees staff to support the Student Trustee, and with the Office of General Counsel to ensure legal and procedural compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary administrative advisor to SUNY Student Assembly, supporting daily operations and ensuring timely, accurate execution of key responsibilities including elections, stipends, and event logistics. Lead planning and coordination of SA Conferences (Fall, Spring and Leadership) and Executive Committee Meetings
- Ensure students understand and abide by SA bylaws, advising students of SUNY and New York State policies, procedures and guidelines as applicable
- Oversee and certify the Student Assembly elections, in collaboration with the SUNY Office of General Counsel, to ensure compliance and integrity of the process, including delegate registration, quorum validation, and voting systems
Attend SA meetings, conferences and events to stay informed and provide support often during evening and weekends
- Manage collection and submission of documents for eligible SA members to receive stipends and/or travel reimbursement
- Organize onboarding and professional development for Student Assembly members
- Maintain continuous communication with SUNY offices, including Board of Trustees staff, Government Relations, and University leadership, on matters involving student governance
- Coordinate with SUNY offices to provide access to essential tools, platforms and professional guidance that support SA operations and the development of student government leaders
- Assist in managing/providing guidance for the Student Assembly budget
- Promote active student participation in SUNY SA and foster engagement across campuses
- Address and help resolve student concerns, conflicts, and escalated issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up and communication with System staff
This position requires travel to conferences, meetings, and events. The incumbent will be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Education:

Experience:
- At least two years of relevant professional experience
- Experience working within higher education
- Experience supporting student activities, student government, or similar student leadership organizations
- Experience solving complex problems and manage challenges in high stress situations
- Specialized knowledge

Additional Comments - Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 annually.
- State Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
