Job Specifics
Duties Description As a member of the Executive Chamber, an Investigative Analyst serves as a member of the Research and Vetting team, creating due diligence reports using open source, publicly available information for the Governor and Senior Staff and acts as a risk mitigation tool for the Administration. Investigative Analysts use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to aggregate and summarize complex qualitative information, analyzing potential threats to provide a comprehensive risk assessment. The Investigative Analyst will work in conjunction with various teams within the Executive Chamber and New York State agencies to further the mission of the Administration.
The Investigative Analyst performs due diligence checks on individuals applying for positions within the Executive Chamber, potential Governor Appointees, businesses and organizations that will interact with the Executive Chamber, and projects and initiatives in support of the Administration.
Duties:
• Utilize open-source intelligence collection methods and tools such as government databases, search engines, and social media to aggregate, analyze, and summarize qualitative information.
• Create risk assessment reports identifying potential threats or issues to the Administration.
• Engage in a robust review process to ensure information integrity, neutrality, and conciseness.
• Monitor past and present New York State Government political activities, policies, and initiatives.
• Maintain a knowledge of current political and cultural events at a State/National/Global level.
• Identify and develop new risk mitigation processes and procedures to aid in mitigation efforts.
• Work independently on a small team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Investigative Journalism, Homeland Security, Intelligence, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, or similar field. In addition to the degree, 1+ year of relevant work experience is preferred. A Master’s degree can be interchanged with 1+ year of relevant work experience.

• Track record of strong analytical, organizational, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent reading comprehension, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex information and synthesize key findings in a timely manner.
• Capacity to be flexible and adaptive to respond and address requests strategically.
• Knowledgeable of state and federal databases (NYS DOCCS, BOE, COLIEG), search engines (Google), social media websites (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Tweetdeck).
• Proficiency in Westlaw Public Records and News components.
• Proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
