Job Specifics

Duties Description The Division of Family Health's Bureau of Perinatal, Reproductive, and Sexual Health, Sexual Violence Response Unit is recruiting for two Health Program Administrator/Trainee positions. The two HPAs (G18) will work in the Bureau of Perinatal, Reproductive, and Sexual Health, Sexual Violence Response Unit, under the direction of a Health Program Administrator 1. The HPAs will be primarily responsible for managing routine activities within the Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program and assisting with related sexual violence response initiatives. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving SAFE examiner certifications and re-certifications, reviewing and approving SAFE training and SAFE hospital applications, reviewing quarterly reports, completing risk assessments, and conducting monitoring activities. The HPAs will each manage a workload of approximately 20-25 SAFE-designated hospitals, conduct occasional in-person visits to hospitals and work with hospitals on follow-up restorative action plans. The HPAs will maintain updated information and resources on hospital treatment of sexual assault patients and provide resources and technical assistance.

Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: Bachelor's or higher degree.

Transfer Candidates: Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Health Program Administrator (G-18); OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the field of sexual violence prevention and/or response, or experience working with sexual assault survivors; Experience with program management and coordination of public health programs; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Experience managing multiple tasks and collaborating with various partners; Bachelor's degree or higher in public health or related field.

Positions may be filled at a trainee level (equated to Grades 14/16), or Grade 18, depending upon the qualifications of the candidate.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
