Job Specifics

Duties Description The Mental Health/First Aid Program Management Intern will report to managers within the Park Ranger Unit and the Health and Safety Bureau. Their duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Working with the Office of Mental Health and the Mental Health Alliance of NYS to develop and implement
training and program guidance.
• Developing training materials and rolling out training programs.
• Working with identified locations to implement a service dog program.
• Working with the Peer Support Program to standardize training and messaging.
• Tracking and analyzing incident data.
• Working with the Office of Mental Health and the Mental Health Association to develop signage.
• Working with the Public Information Office to develop messaging

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICAIONS:
No Minimum Qualifications per Civil Service.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEW YORK STATE STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM:
• Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York
State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*
• Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or
university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students
for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree
program
• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must have skilled computer abilities in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
(the following experience is preferred but not required)
• College degree in Business Administration, Health Services, Human Services, Public Administration, Public
Health, or related field.
• Prior experience in a park, recreation center, camp or related work location preferred but not required
