Duties Description Come join the Department of Labor’s Office of Communications! We are looking for a highly creative individual who thrives in a collaborative environment to take the lead in our social media team. The ideal candidate is highly organized and driven to create engaging, creative content that will raise the profile of the agency. Our dynamic group is ready to welcome our next team member!
As an employee of the Communications Office, under the direction of the Public Information Specialist 3 (Digital Content), the duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Lead digital media campaign planning, including research, development, and scheduling posts specific to departmental needs.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely and accurate information dissemination.
• Coordinate, review, and edit the posting of information to agency social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram/X/LinkedIn).
• Monitor websites, social media, and digital communications trends to ensure that information is kept current, fresh, informative, and appealing.
• Perform quality assurance checks of work to ensure that all editorial and graphic assets have been uploaded properly to the page and are free of technical issues.
• Use the content management system to create, modify, and edit webpages under the direction of management.
• Work with staff and serve as liaison with Information Technology staff as needed to manage HTML coding for e-mail blasts and custom media projects.
• Provide support executing social media strategies.
• Utilize information from social media listening tools to address public concerns.
• Oversee the work of the Public Information Specialist 1 staff.
Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years, respectively;
OR one year of experience as a Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content).
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience supervising social media staff and leading content generation.
Effective written and oral communication skills with a high degree of responsiveness.
Understanding of SEO principles for social media.
Experience with social media listening tools.
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
Bilingual (English & Spanish).
Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
