Job Specifics
Duties Description Under the direction of the Historic Site Manager or Maintenance Supervisor, the selected candidate will be involved in every aspect of park maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform general maintenance for buildings and grounds, including cleaning activities.
• Operate groundskeeping equipment and performing general maintenance on commercial mowers, tractors, trimmers and UTV’s.
• Assist in performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Participate in general event set up and take down of tents, tables, chairs and other necessary equipment as operationally needed.
• Act as a primary visitor contact to site patrons.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications for this title per Civil Service.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings based on operational needs.
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to communicate well with other staff and park patrons.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Ability to communicate in writing and to read and comprehend written material.
• Previous experience and training in various semi-skilled trades including basic carpentry, painting and general mechanical maintenance.
