Job Specifics
Duties Description The duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following (depending on the work site):
• Parks & Recreation Aide 1 ($16.00/hour):
o Campground and Public Programming; grounds maintenance; customer service; gate attendants, recreation attendants; Trail Maintenance; mowing, trimming, remove vegetation, branches and downed trees from trail, litter pickup, maintain gates, signage, & benches; Maintenance, Cleaning, Camp office; cleaning facilities, weed trimming, painting, cash handling, snow removal, vehicle & equipment operation.
o general maintenance, landscaping, mowing, weed whacking, garbage collection.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 2 ($17.62/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 1, in addition to the following: Buildings & Grounds maintenance, brush clean up; Contact station - check in/check out; Required to operate park vehicles and equipment. May oversee PRA 1 staff.
o Maintains grounds, roads, and trails; clears shrubs, grass, leaves and debris; bathroom cleaning, snow/ice removal, litter removal, Upstate PRA2’s could perform booth operations and cash collection.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 3 ($18.19/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 2, in addition to the following: additional trades skill/responsibility: i.e: boat launch attendant, equipment operation or minor trades; Environmental Education, Public Programming, Outreach; May oversee PRA 1&2 staff.
o Maintains grounds, roads and trails, assists patrons with general information, toll booth, litter and trash removal, bathroom cleaning, fixes and repairs, event set up, direct parking for vehicle entry, could include light office duties, phones. Upstate PRA3’s could perform booth operations and cash collection.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 4 ($19.04/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 3, in addition to the following: may function as crew leaders, giving instructions and providing assistance to lower level seasonal staff and supervision; Tree Crew - Brush Chipping, Bucking, Felling; Office, maintenance, interpretive programs.
o Maintain grounds, roads and trails, assists patrons with general information, toll booth, set up for events, may assist skilled or semi-skilled trades like unclogging toilets, replace washers, exterior or interior painting, general carpentry. Toll booth, litter and trash removal. May perform light office functions, phones, reports, cash collection, bank runs.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 5 ($20.45/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 4, in addition to the following: Supervision of staff- work autonomous.
o Maintain grounds, roads and trails, assists patrons with general information, toll booth, set up for events, may assist skilled or semi-skilled trades like unclogging toilets, replace washers, exterior or interior painting, general carpentry. Toll booth, litter and trash removal. May perform light office functions, phones, reports, cash collection, bank runs. Performs security functions, may supervise a small maintenance crew, may give tours, and perform programming.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 6 ($21.57/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 5, in addition to the following: may act as a shift or area supervisor, either under the direction of a facility manager or in the absence of permanent staff.
o May supervise a small crew, maintenance or office or historic site tours, assists managers or higher-level supervisors with programs, events, security, bank runs, patron services. Will also lead crews for carpentry, landscaping, boat, booth operations, cash collection, plumbing, housekeeping, and office tasks. May assist with revenue and attendance reporting, and assist with training lower level staff.
• Parks & Recreation Aide 7 ($24.13/hour):
o May be assigned to perform the duties listed in PRA 6, in addition to the following: higher volume of work and supervisory responsibility.
o Supervisory role: Works more with skilled crews, for maintenance, landscaping, gardening, pool operations, beach operations, Campground operations, office operations. Assists patrons with directions, general information, may be called upon in urgent situations, may also perform office functions, cash collection, bank runs, reports and communications between facility management and lower-level staff.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

Operational Needs:
• The duties of this position may require you to have and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows you to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. Failure to maintain a valid driver’s license may result in removal from this position.
Operational needs will be discussed at the time of the interview and appointment. Failure to maintain proper licensing may result in removal from this position.
