Job Specifics
Duties Description The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking an Investment Operations Associate to support the daily operational and administrative functions of the Investments Department. This role is ideal for someone early in their investment operations career who is eager to learn from senior team members, contribute to process improvements, and gain exposure to a wide range of public and private investment strategies. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist senior investment operations staff in maintaining efficient and consistent processes across multiple investment strategies, including public markets and alternative investments.
• Coordinate with internal teams (administration, technology, finance, compliance, cash management) and external partners (consultants, custodian, vendors) to support day to day portfolio activities.
• Help monitor and resolve cash and position breaks between the custodian, portfolio management systems, and external managers.
• Support onboarding of new investment managers, including account setup within custodian and portfolio management systems.
• Assist with processing capital calls, account funding, and security or cash transfers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of operational workflows, procedures, and investment activities.
• Provide operational support for the implementation of new investment strategies under the guidance of senior team members.
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the department’s technology infrastructure, ensuring data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in investment operations, asset management, finance, or a related field.
• Familiarity with the investment life cycle (e.g., onboarding, cash flows, trading support, reconciliations).
• Basic programming or data analysis skills (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA) and interest in developing stronger technical capabilities.
• Exposure to portfolio management or accounting systems (Aladdin experience a plus).
Preferred Qualifications:
• The MBA, CFA, or Operations related credential is a plus.
• Experience with tools such as BlackRock Aladdin, eVestment, eFront, or custodian reporting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross functional teams.
• Intellectual curiosity and interest in improving processes and systems.

Please note, the salary range displayed includes special salary treatments, such as location pay.
Salary within the posted range will be commensurate with experience. Please note, NYSIF does not offer bonus programs as part of our compensation program.
