Job Specifics

Duties Description Web Platform Services is responsible for the overall development and delivery of New York State's public-facing websites in support of the NY.Gov/Agency Redesign initiative, which aims to create an online destination that better reflects the vision for a more efficient, effective, and modern government.
Web Platform Services utilizes an Enterprise Platform solution (Drupal) to accomplish its mission, leveraging current technologies and industry best practices, as applicable, to improve service delivery.

Under the direction of the Development Manager or Manager of Information Technology Services 1, this position will coordinate Drupal development practices and technical collaboration across development staff and teams and have the following duties:
• Coordinate Drupal development activities across multiple teams to support onboarding and ongoing support of websites following established common processes, procedures, and practices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Drupal development staff to promote consistency in implementation approaches, coding standards, and development practices.
• Mentor and support team members in advancing Drupal-related technical skills and knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate technical resources and expertise to support Web Platform Services leadership initiatives and priorities.
• Coordinate with Project Management staff to provide technical details related to scheduling, deliverables, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
• Provide input on technical requirements for Agency requests and assist in the development of functionality and implementation documentation.
• Coordinate with related platform and distribution teams to identify opportunities for reusable components, templates, and shared functionality within the Drupal platform.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among development staff, platform stakeholders, and related technical teams.
• Communicate in a professional manner with customers, including Agency Executives, PIOs, project stakeholders, Digital Media Service Center staff, and ITS leadership, as requested.
• Prepare requested reports and status updates for Web Platform Services leadership regarding development activities, technical initiatives, and implementation progress.
• Identify and communicate risks, technical issues, or dependencies that may impact project timelines or platform stability.
• Implement front-end designs using programming languages and technologies such as PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
