Job Specifics
Duties Description Under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Recreation, the Assistant Park Recreation Supervisor will perform the following tasks which include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assist with the development and coordination of Regional Recreation Programs. Coordinate all operations with regional administration staff, regional facility managers and supervisors, as well as other state and local agencies.
• Assist the Recreation Director and Assistant Recreation Director as needed.
• Supervise lower-level staff and assign daily tasks.
• Place orders for program supplies, prizes, and awards.
• Prepare program posters, flyers, applications, and press releases.
• Prepare budgets, conduct bids, process payment to vendors, and deposit income (i.e. sponsorship revenue and entry fees).
• Answer inquiries from public regarding regional recreation programs, facility fees, hours of operation, rules, and regulations.
• Update Park brochures, calendar of events, and other literature for the region.
• Prepare and present presentations for various meetings, sponsorship proposals, special events, and conferences.
• Deal with complaints and irate patrons in a professional manner.
• Perform other park-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of full-time experience in an organized recreation program, one (1) year of which must have been supervisory.
College study leading to a degree in recreation, or a closely related field may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Additional Comments SALARY INFORMATION:
The hiring rate listed combines the statutory hiring rate for CSEA SG-12 ($50,425) with the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000). Similarly, the job rate posted is a combination of the statutory job rate ($61,548) and the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).
OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driver’s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probation
• Must have excellent communication skills and be willing and able to speak publicly to diverse audiences.
• Must be willing to work outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions. Daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday work is required.
• Must have experience in or demonstrate willingness to learn the following programs: Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Canva, G Suite, and Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).

• Candidates may be required to report to other NY State Parks and facilities throughout the Long Island Region on an as needed basis
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. and be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
